Pepper Chicken Semi Gravy a.k.a Chicken Kurumulagittu Varattiyathu

Ingredients

  1. Chicken – 1 kg
  2. Onion – 2
  3. Ginger – 1 small piece
  4. Garlic – 8-10 pieces
  5. Green Chilly – 4

    Pepper Chicken getting cooked
  6. Vanaspathi – 450 gm
  7. Coconut – 1/4th cup
  8. Groundnut – handful
  9. Curry leaves – half a bunch
  10. Chilly powder – 1 tbsp
  11. Tumeric powder- 1 pinch
  12. Coriander powder – 1 tbsp
  13. Pepper – 1/2 – 1 sp (according to your taste)
  14. Salt – as required

Keeping Things Ready

  1.  Wash the chicken and cut them into cubes.Sprinkle a pinch of turmeric powder on it and keep it aside.
  2. Cut Garlic,Ginger and Green chillies into small pieces.Slice the green chillies round.
  3. Grind Coconut and Groundnut without water.
  4. Cut Onions vertically to form thin long slices and tomatoes into small square pieces.

Procedure

Keep a saucepan in low flame and add vanaspathi.Once it starts melting,add the ginger-garlic-chilly and fry till you get the cooked smell of ginger and garlic.Add the coconut mix to it.Pour little water and increase the flame.Once the coconut gets cooked,add chicken.Add chilly powder and coriander powder.Add water just enough for the chicken to get cooked.Add salt and stir for two minutes.

Once the chicken gets cooked,the saucepan should not contain water in it.

Now take another sauce pan and add 1 tbsp vanaspathi.Fry Onion and Curry leaves till the Onion turns golden yellow.Add chicken into it and sprinkle pepper on it.Vary the pepper measure according to your taste.Fry it till the onion turns coffee brown.Add salt if needed.

Onion Tomato Dosa

Ingredients

  1. Onion – 2
  2. Tomato – 3
  3. Chilly powder – for your taste

    After sprinkling the onions and tomatoes
  4. Salt – for your taste
  5. Dosa Flour

Keeping Things Ready

Cut onion and tomato into small pieces.Keep it in a bowl and add chilly and salt to it.Stir well and keep it aside.

Procedure

Keep the frying pan in low flame throughout the cooking.Pour 3 spoons of dosa flour.Spread it slightly in the pan to look like the base of Pizza.NEVER make the layer thin.Sprinkle the onion-tomato mix on the dosa.Add little oil on the dosa especially on the onions and tomatos.Once the base gets cooked well,carefully detach the dosa from the pan and make the vegetable side get cooked.

Now wait for your yummy dosa to get cooked 🙂

What’s  your favorite food???

If we take the word count for the word “chicken” in the answer list,it may hit a century.

But when I answer this question,I can always see the other person’s mouth opened as big as they could open 😮  My favorite food is Tomato Curry!!!!

Now another 😮 from you???

This favorite dish is a two min dish in my home.It is easy for Mom to cook and give us.

Once i tried cooking it by myself.

Phew!!!It was not as tasty as what my Mother cooks.I made umpteen attempts but I failed to acheive the taste and aroma of my mother’s tomato curry.

Then I tried cooking it under the eyes of  my Mom;it didn’t work either.

That’s terrible!!! 😡 😡

I made my Mom cook it soon after my vain experiment.

Hurray 😀

It tasted different and yummy.But this is not fair because the ingredients I added matched exactly with what my Mom added in her curry.Still the result was different 😦 😦

The experiment is still going on and on and I have not yet succeeded.May be one day I will 🙂

Any way,you can also give a try to make my favorite dish and the recipe is as follows.

Ingredients:

Red Tomatoes – 3

Green Chilly – 2
Salt – Required for your taste

Coconut – 1 Cup

Cumin seeds – 1 teaspoon

Shallot – 3

Turmeric Powder – 1 Pinch

Chilly Powder – 1/2 Teaspoon

Coconut Oil – 2 tablespoons

Mustard – 1 Teaspoon

Curry Leaves – 1 Stem
 
Procedure :-

Cut the tomatoes into small pieces.Boil the green chilly (chopped in two pieces),tomatoes and salt with water.Grind coconut,cumin seeds,chilly powder,turmeric powder,shallots.
Add the mixture to the smashed tomatoes,let it boil and remove from fire.Heat the oil in a pan,splutter mustard seeds,add chopped shallots and curry leaves and sauté well.Pour this into the tomato curry.

You can have rice or chappathi or naan with the curry.Actually I don’t mind having this even with bread :D..
